MoneySense Magazine recently ranked Lloydminster as the best place to live in Western Canada and number three in Canada! With this claim, Tarpon’s Lloydminster branch continues to benefit from working in this quick-paced, thriving community. “Our business has some interesting roots, that complement this community with an industrial base,” says Gordon Jeffery, Tarpon’s Director, Southern Operations. “When we first opened the Lloydminster branch, it was to execute SCADA projects which the technical team in Calgary had secured. By following the Tarpon vision, we’ve progressed to a full-spectrum Electric and Controls (E&C) operation with several large projects on the go.” There is a lot of team spirit between Tarpon’s employees located at the Lloydminster branch and the neighbouring Provost satellite office. “We all pitch in to help each other, in combination with our Construction Services team led by Rob Hewlett,” says Greg Johnston, Tarpon’s Lloydminster Branch Manager. When commenting on the logistics of managing this fast-paced office with a smaller team, Johnston is pleased to say that the core strength is the quality of our people. “Our team is so full of spirit and getting the job done now,” says Johnston. “And a real tribute goes to Cathy Sheppard, our administrator, who really has taken on everything that comes her way even though our branch’s workload has risen immensely.” The business development for winning large new clients involves a long cycle with consistent relationship building along the way. “Both the Calgary office and Ryan Hahn, Manager of the Provost office, have been stellar in finding the E&C business that fits with the offerings of Tarpon’s Lloydminster branch office,” comments Johnston. “Our quest to continue to grow the business and find challenging work has resulted in three substantial projects,” says Jeffery. “Each jobsite has different specifications and we try to customize the products and services to meet each clients’ needs. At the same time, we are looking to bring more clients and projects on board. Thank you to everyone who is keeping our branch office happening!”
