TARPON NEWS:  Tarpon opens first U.S. location    LOCATION:  Calgary, AB    RELEASED:  Apr 8, 2008

Renovations are nearly complete on Tarpon’s first U.S. office, close to Denver, Colorado, and employees are excited to capitalize on this new opportunity. Situated in Westminster, northwest of the Denver metropolitan area, the building encompasses 6,500 square feet of office space, 3,500 square feet of warehouse space and a fenced yard. Director, Construction Services, Greg Jackson, expects that office renovations will be complete and Tarpon Energy Services LLC will be open for business by late April 2008.

Tarpon Energy Services LLC will offer a full suite of electrical and instrumentation services while also pursuing opportunities in the U.S. for Tarpon’s other divisions: Power & Leasing, Process Systems and Structures. Tarpon will supply the same services in the U.S. as it does in Canada, including electrical and instrumentation, maintenance and construction management, SCADA systems, programming, panel fabrication, design and engineering, packaged products, burner management systems, combustion optimization, control systems and telecommunications.

Opening an office in the U.S. will give Tarpon an excellent opportunity to diversify, according to Director, Operations for the new LLC Company, Gordon Jeffery. “We wanted to take advantage of the many prospects in the U.S. Rocky Mountain area,” he says. “Drilling activity throughout the region has been sustained at a very high level, with all the indications of it staying that way for the foreseeable future.”

Tarpon’s short-term goal in the U.S. is to build a quality team and client base. “In terms of business development, we will leverage existing relationships, because there are many companies we work for in Canada that have operations in the U.S. as well,” Jackson says, adding that Tarpon will also be pursuing new clients throughout the U.S.

Expanding Tarpon’s operations into the U.S. gives the company a chance to secure a foothold into one of the largest energy regions. “Its access to a market 10 times the size of ours,” Jackson says. “It’s our number one avenue to grow the business right now. We look forward to expanding into other states and opening branch offices throughout the U.S.”
