Tarpon Energy Services Ltd. is pleased to announce that Mike Scott has accepted the position of Vice President, Human Resources & Communications effective July 1, 2011. In his new role, Mr. Scott will primarily be responsible for developing and leading the human resources functions and communications activities within Tarpon.
In 1978, Mr. Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature and a Masters in Business Administration in 1980, from Queen’s University. After graduation, he started his career in human resources with Shell Canada. While working for Shell from 1980 to 2007, he held various senior HR positions including Manager Compensation and Manager Talent Management. From 1996 to 1999, he worked for Royal Dutch Shell on an expatriate assignment based in London setting up global HR programs and policies for the Chemicals division.
After retiring from Shell in 2008, he joined Oilexco in the capacity of Senior Manager, Human Resources. He was responsible for establishing HR practices and processes to support the growth of the company. In 2010, he began providing general HR consulting services for Valeura Energy Inc., a start-up oil and gas company.
At the end of March 2011, Mr. Scott joined Tarpon on a contract basis in the role of Interim Director, HR & Communications. “He has been instrumental in advancing Tarpon’s people strategy for fiscal 2012 and is an important contributor to the executive team,” said John Henry, President & CEO of Tarpon Energy Services Ltd. “As a senior human resources leader with over 30 years experience, Mike’s expertise and guidance will be a valuable addition to Tarpon.”
