A strong safety culture, innovative safety initiatives and impressive safety record, are just some of the reasons why Tarpon Energy Services Ltd. won silver in the oil and gas category of Canada’s Safest Employers Award on October 28, 2014.
“Safety is the cornerstone of our culture at Tarpon,” said Larry Warnock, director, HSE. “Tarpon employees and management continue to work together to achieve our primary goal to ensure everyone arrives home safely at the end of each day. Receiving this award is a great honour and shows our continued commitment to being an employer of choice.”
Canada’s Safest Employers Award is held to recognize employers that have demonstrated a commitment to promoting and maintaining a culture of safety in their organization and in the communities in which they operate. Gold and silver awards are available for 10 categories ranging from health care to the oil and gas industry. As well, there are two additional award categories – wellness and psychological safety.
“Occupational health and safety professionals from all across Canada work tirelessly to promote the safety and well-being of their workforce,” said Amanda Silliker, editor, Canadian Occupational Safety magazine. “Canada’s Safest Employers awards give the opportunity to recognize these hard-working individuals and celebrate the culture of safety they have helped foster in their organizations. From innovative safety programs, employee engagement and training to wellness programs and strong management support, these winning employers are setting an excellent example for others to follow.”
Canada’s Safest Employers awards are presented by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, a Thomson Reuters business. Launched in 2011, the awards recognize Canadian companies with outstanding accomplishments in promoting the health and safety of their workers.
