A strong safety culture, innovative safety initiatives and impressive safety record, are just some of the reasons why Tarpon Energy Services Ltd. won top employer in the oil and gas category of Canada’s Safest Employers Award on October 30, 2013.
“Safety is the cornerstone of our culture at Tarpon,” said Larry Warnock, director, HSE. “We are constantly striving to achieve our primary goal to ensure everyone arrives home safely at the end of each day. Receiving this award demonstrates Tarpon’s continued support and dedication in becoming an employer of choice.”
Canada’s Safest Employers Award is held to recognize employers that have demonstrated a commitment to promoting and maintaining a culture of safety in their organization and in the communities in which they operate. The award is divided into 11 categories ranging from retail/hospitality to the manufacturing industry.
“Canada’s Safest Employers Awards recognize companies from across Canada that are raising the bar in occupational health and safety,” said Amanda Silliker, editor, Canadian Occupational Safety magazine. “These awards allow us to shine light on the companies that are leading the way in safety excellence, and hopefully inspire others to follow their example.”
The 2013 winners of the Canada’s Safest Employers Award were honoured at the annual Gala Banquet in Toronto on October 30, 2013. Attendees of the event heard from keynote speaker, Steve Mahoney, president, Radiation Safety Institute of Canada, and guest speakers, the Honourable Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Maureen Shaw, advisor, B.C.
